Job Purpose:

Senspex, Inc. is currently recruiting for an IT and Network Support position. This person provides technical assistance in the design, production, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of the organization’s IT and network systems.  This position is responsible for performing day-to-day support tasks in the areas of, but not limited to, desktop support, computer network and systems maintenance and administration, wired and wireless network engineering, integrated electronic security solutions, video surveillance systems, embedded computing devices, cybersecurity, information assurance, company website and intranet, marketing materials, and field support as needed.  The IT and Network Support person works with all departments on various large and smaller projects while managing day-to-day maintenance and routine trouble-shooting tasks for users. 

 

A successful candidate will be a detail orientated, self-starter that can successfully manage their own workload with minimal supervision and have the ability to be flexible and work in a dynamic team environment. Candidate must be willing to assist other departments and be motivated to assume additional responsibilities.

Essential Functions:*

  • Assists with overseeing, maintaining, and if needed, correcting the daily performance of computer systems, including servers, Internet, employee desktops/laptops, phones, switches, electronic mail, printers, firewalls and antivirus licenses, and other computer programs and applications.

  • Provides desktop support to employees and responds to inquiries related to internal and external customer needs.

  • Assists with network maintenance to ensure networks operate correctly with minimal interruptions.  May be called upon to perform routing data backup, install updates, analyze and report actual or attempted security breaches.

  • Configures security settings or access permissions for groups or individuals when needed.

  • Setup and/or remove/replace equipment for employee use, ensuring proper equipment and software is available or ordered and other applications are installed and ready for use.

  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve network problems, and carry out routine configuration and installation of IT solutions to ensure proper functions of the network, servers, and security systems. 

  • Consults with SME’s and makes recommendations or repairs to hardware, software, or peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.  May travel to field/customer sites as needed for repair and/or installation work.

  • Assist with the configuration of video management software (VMS) systems.  Receive training in networked video surveillance and access control systems to provide support to onsite SME. 

  • Monitor compliance with DoD cybersecurity regulations and Assurance Information and report non-compliance to IT Systems Administrator.

  • May assist with conducting information technology training for new hires and annual cybersecurity training for all employees.

  • Assists in proposal development to include technical writing, drawing, and costing.

  • Supports all activities with the design, creation, research, production, proofing and assembly of marketing communications, collateral and deliverables.  Projects may include advertising, collateral, direct marketing, electronic media, sales tools and presentations. 

  • Updates website with newsfeed, job posts, and any other media as requested by IT Systems Administrator or top management.

  • Attends administrative staff meetings and other meetings as required.

  • Assists with media or marketing activity as requested by IT Systems Administrator or top management. 

  • Provides support on special projects as needed and completes all other assigned tasks in order for Senspex to fulfill its contract obligations.

  • May require local and national travel.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in related technical discipline (computer science, engineering, information management, information technology) and three (3) years of directly-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Demonstrated experience using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop) and web content management systems (WordPress).

  • Knowledge, education and training in system analysis, system design, software design, software development and implementation, or software testing.

  • Familiarity with software development processes and best practices, including source control, defect tracking, profiling, unit testing, and design review.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience or familiarity with DoD IT policies and procedures is highly preferred. 

  • Experience in one or more of the following is preferred: C/C++, C#, Java, XML, Unix / Linux, CentOS/Redhat, Windows Admin, or Embedded Software Development.

  • Strong Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Prior experience working in an ISO 9001 certified business, federal contracting, or engineering/manufacturing environment is highly preferred. 

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment where a high degree of flexibility is required. 

  • Reliable, flexible, detailed, and focused individual self-sufficient in carrying out job responsibilities. 

  • Ability to manage daily tasks and projects effectively and efficiently.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing essential functions and responsibilities, the employee is:

  • Constantly balancing and maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, sitting and climbing ladders. 

  • Frequently standing and walking. 

  • Constantly reaching and extending hand(s) and arm(s) in all directions.

  • Constantly using fingers in motion to include picking, pinching, and typing. 

  • Constantly grasping and applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm of hand.

  • Occasional lifting and raising of objects from a lower to higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.

  • Constant repetitive motion with wrists, hands, and/or fingers. 

  • Position requires light work of exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Requires occasional lifting and transporting of items weighing up to 50 lbs.

  • This position functions in an office and technical environment and requires fine manipulation and simple grasping in order to utilize equipment, computer, and other standard office equipment such as telephone, fax machines, copiers, printers, and other computer equipment.

  • Required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and extensive reading.

  • Employee frequently works in a professional office environment and constantly with computer equipment and moderate amounts of noise and activity. 

  • Note: For the purpose of this summary, occasionally is used to represent up to 1/3 of the time given to the work day, frequently represents 1/3 to 2/3 of the time and constantly represents 2/3 or more of the time.

 

Other Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work within the United States

  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background and drug test

  • National security clearance requirement: This position may require obtaining a U.S. DoD security clearance. Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain security clearance in order to work on projects/programs.

Compensation:

  • Rate of pay will be commensurate with education and experience.
